The Central Michigan Chippewas won their opening game of the Mid-American Conference tournament, defeating Northern Illinois 6-2 on Wednesday. Pat Leatherman pitched seven strong innings, giving up just three hits for the win. The Chippewas now square off against rival Western Michigan in the quarterfinals Thursday afternoon at 4:30.
