A car fire several weeks ago led the Isabella County Sheriff’s deputies to an in-progress car theft over the weekend. Deputies were called to a car in flames at the intersection of Weidman and Isabella Roads, and during the investigation, they discovered the plates on the burned Volkswagen Beetle belonged to a stolen car from a shop in Shepherd. A second car was stolen from same shop last week. On Friday morning, police found two men attempting to hot wire a third vehicle. One person ran, while the other was arrested.
