A Shepherd native was ordained as a transitional deacon on Friday. The ceremony was the next step on the road to becoming a priest for 31-year-old Stephen Blaxton. Blaxton traveled the country as a semi-professional drummer, worked as a restaurant server in Alaska, and taught Asian students in California before finally deciding to take steps toward priesthood.
