Shepherd Maple Syrup Festival History:
It was 1958 when the earliest Shepherd Maple Syrup Festival was held in Shepherd. Trees were tapped, sap was gathered by volunteers, and the public was invited to a community wide pancake dinner. Proceeds from the sale of the syrup helped support recreational activities and facilities in the community. In its earliest years, festivals consisted of fun, family activities, and was a community driven effort.
Special THANKS to ALL of our local business supporters of this years’ festivities!
The long-running tradition is completely dependent on volunteers who help out everywhere, from tapping the trees, to making the pancakes and coordinating the festival’s events.
Event information and other updates can be found on the festival’s website at http://www.shepherdmaplesyrupfest.org.
