Longtime Mt Pleasant Police officer Don Sytsema was promoted to lieutenant after serving as a detective for several years. Sytsema assumes his new role on Sunday. The 22-year veteran will oversee day-to-day operations of the road patrol and detective bureau. He’s also responsible for crime analysis and prevention duties, and coordinate special operations with other area law enforcement agencies.
