6.)          Supplemental Recruitment Initiatives:

Weekly                 All Marketing Consultants participate in weekly sales training utilizing the “Local Broadcast Sales” program.  This training is held consistently throughout the year.  This training strengthens the skills necessary for advancement in broadcast sales management.

Ongoing               Latitude Media LLC has an internship program established for students attending high school, trade school, community college, or university.  Each student is given the opportunity, over the course of an academic semester, to gain skills in on-air broadcasting, copywriting, social media and web writing, promotions, and on-air show preparation.  Students must be enrolled in a program related to the broadcast industry, and their internship must be endorsed, supported, and monitored by the sponsoring school.  As part of the internship program established, many academic programs offer students’ academic credits for their internship experience.  During the period covered by this report, Latitude Media LLC had one student intern involved in the program who came to us via CMU.

Ongoing               General Manager, Bob Peters, is a contributing member of the Student Advisory Board at the Gratiot Isabella Career Technical Center, working with broadcast students and educators discussing future skills and needs for careers in the broadcast industry.

Ongoing               General Manager, Bob Peters, attends weekly Chamber of Commerce networking groups where he can share information about broadcast marketing as well as careers in the field of broadcasting.

Ongoing               Office Manager, Laurie Peters, schedules approximately 10 EEO Recruiting Announcements on each station each month. These notices request local organizations to let us know if they would like to be notified whenever the station employee unit has an opening.

11/17/22             General Manager, Bob Peters, was invited to be a part of a panel at Alma College for students in COM280, Sports Broadcasting.  He discussed preparing for your first job or internship. How to apply for jobs. How to seek the right path for your career. He answered many questions ranging from who to reach out to all the way to making a resume and demo from previous college experience.

2/13/23               General Manager, Bob Peters, was a guest speaker at Central Michigan University BCA 512, Electronic Media Promotions, as a guest of Dr. Will Andersen. Bob discussed how to promote and gain excitement for events, how to choose an event, and how radio promotions can motivate people to attend.

2/24/23               General Manager, Bob Peters, and Shawn Powers, Operations Manager/Program Director/Air Talent were in attendance for the CMU/BCA JOB FAIR. They were recruiting for Spring & Summer Internship applicants who were interested in learning about audio production, on-air prepping & executions, radio station promotions, sports broadcasting, production & imaging skills, promotions & event marketing, music scheduling, website & digital broadcasting platforms.

4/25/23               General Manager, Bob Peters, and Chris Spachman, Sports Producer, spoke to a class of 5th and 6th graders (apprx. 20 students) at Renaissance Public School Academy in Mt. Pleasant. Ms. Tara’s class learned about broadcasting and podcasting. Many questions were answered, and the students were able to utilize the equipment needed to put together a broadcast or podcast. They enjoyed wearing the headphones and listening to themselves speak.
