Principal John Helinski at Hillcrest Elementary in Alma had to put his money where his mouth is and pucker up this week. Helinski promised dozens of second and third grade students that he would kiss a pig in front of them if they read more than 5,000 books in March. The students surpassed that goal reading almost 9,000 books during the month. The idea came after Helinski asked parents for ideas on the school’s Facebook page.
