With Grand Blanc and Bay City John Glenn joining the Saginaw Valley league things will be very different come the 2018 football season.  The past several years have had the Oiler football team driving past schools in Bay City to make the long trek to Lapeer and Davison, add in the fact the those schools have around 2000 kids to Mt Pleasant’s 1100 or so and the change just makes a lot of sense.

What does this move do for the Oiler football team…It erases a highway through heck in the first several weeks of the season that book ended with Midland rivals Dow and High.  With the monster schools of Lapeer and Davison sprinkled in between.  Mt Pleasant finished 5 and 4 the last two seasons after a 1 and 4 start.  It has been hard not to wonder how the Oilers would have finished if there schedule had been flip flopped.  Give a lot of credit to the coaching staff of Jason McIntyre for keeping his kids pumped after those tough starts to the season, but next year with the new alignment of the conference will come a little bit more breathing room when thinking of the playoffs.

It should be a great year of Mt Pleasant football next year with the Ostrowski brothers coming back along with Kevin Davis, Spencer McGregor, and Detroit Free Press All-State Defensive End (as a sophomore) Tyler Huinemen!  Keep checking back to My1043.net for our schedule of football games coming this next fall!
