Alan Jackson released his song “Where Were You (When The World Stopped Turning)” after the September 11th attacks, and there’s no doubt the song still resonates today, as we approach the 20th anniversary of that tragic day.

“Yeah, I mean it makes me feel really warm inside to know that,” he says about the song still resonating wth fans, “and at the same time I feel a little bit surprised that it has lasted all this – these years.”

Alan says that when he first wrote it he didn’t think he would ever record it, let alone release it.

“At first I didn’t think I would ever write a song about the event because I just didn’t feel right about it,” Alan shares, “and then this came out of nowhere and then it went on to be such an anthem for it for years.”

He adds, “And now it’s kind of grown into just its own song outside of 9/11 where it’s just a song about faith and hope and love,” noting, “it’s just amazing that it has outlived where it really began.”
