“Godzilla: King Of Monsters” stomped all over the box office, raking in $49-million and earning the top spot for its debut. It may have taken the crown, but it fell short of expectations where previous entries in the MonsterVerse are concerned. “Godzilla” opened in 2014 with more than $90-million, and 2016’s “Kong: Skull Island” raked in $61-million.

The monster movie didn’t debut that far ahead of the competition. “Aladdin” is in second with $42-million, although that more than a 50-percent drop from its first weekend. Meanwhile, “Rocketman” debuted in the third spot with $25-million, and “Ma” scored fourth with $18-million.

“John Wick: Chapter 3” saw a big drop down to fifth, and so did “Avengers: Endgame” which is now in sixth. “Pokemon Detective Pikachu” is on its way out, too, in seventh for its fourth week.
