Lisa Kudrow Dishes On Playing Phoebe – Lisa Kudrow is admitting she found playing her “Friends” character Phoebe Buffay challenging.

It’s hard to believe because she made it look easy, but Kudrow recalls the struggle she felt while playing the role at the beginning of the NBC sitcom, on a recent episode of Kevin Nealon‘s YouTube series, “Hiking with Kevin.”

Kudrow says she got the role because she’s the only one who handled the audition process well. Then she struggled for three years playing Phoebe until Matt LeBlanc told her “You’re her. Relax. You’ve got it. You’ve been doing this (expletive) character for three years. You’re working too hard. That’s your problem. You don’t need to work as hard. Relax.”

Kudrow was nominated for an Emmy for outstanding supporting actress six times, winning in 1998. She was also nominated for a Golden Globe in 1996.
