The Oscars are beefing up their best picture eligibility requirements amid industry-wide calls for more diversity and inclusion. As part fo the Academy Aperture 2025 initiative, the Academy has announced new representation and inclusion requirements for the big Best Picture trophy. For the 2022 and 2023 Oscars, a film will have to meet certain diversity standards, like at least one of the lead actors or significant supporting actors being from an underrepresented racial or ethnic group.
