The Friday night blizzard in Mount Pleasant didn’t stop the Sacred Heart Boys dominant stretch, as they defeated Merrill 83-40.
Justin Sherlock’s Irish came into the game at 9-0 – 7-0 in the MSAC – and winners of 33 straight conferences games (counting regular season and playoffs).
Things got going incredibly early for the Irish, as Brody Cherry hit a few threes and several steals led to layups as they led the Vandals of Merrill 26-8.
The second half was more of the same, with 8 different Irish members getting on the scoreboard. Brody Cherry hit 5 first half threes, and the Irish hit 9 as a squad in the first 16 minutes – leading to their 53-15 lead at the break.
The second half was continued dominance for Sacred Heart, as all 10 members of the team ended up scoring, and they went on to win 83-40 – moving to 10-0 on the season.
Brody Cherry led the Irish with 26 points including 7 triples. The Senior came into the game already shooting a 47% clip from behind the arc, and only upped that number with his 7 three-balls and only a few misses.
The Irish hit 14 3-balls as a team, 9 coming in the first half alone.
Grady Pieratt added 13 for Sacred Heart, Jason Boge dominated the paint and finished with 10, Nate Siler hit 3 trey’s to end with 9, and lead guard Noah Zeien added in 8.
Merrill moves to 3-7, and were led by Senior Ethan Mattson who finished with 11.
