Wednesday Night’s Regional Final Showdown in Division 4 resulted in Fowler winning their 6th straight title, and Sacred Heart suffering their only loss on the season as the Irish fell 57-36.

In a top 5 matchup in the state (Division 4) the #3 ranked Fowler Eagles were looking to continue their season to potentially head to the Breslin Center for a 6th straight year. #5 ranked Sacred Heart hadn’t lost since the Quarterfinal of last year’s playoffs, and were looking to win back-to-back Regional Titles.

This game was definition of a battle through 3 quarters, as the Irish got down early in the first – but a way downtown splash at the first quarter horn from Senior Sophie Hauck gave the Irish momentum.

The Eagles regained control in the second, before a 10-0 surge from the Irish to end the quarter cut the deficit to 2, but we couldn’t head to halftime that easily. Senior Katie Spicer of Fowler hit a half-court heave at the horn to extend the Eagles lead back to 5, 27-22.

Sacred Heart would come out of the break on a 6-0 run to open the quarter and take their first lead of the game. The top ranked teams would go back-and-forth throughout the quarter, and Fowler would regain a 4 point lead by the end of the 3rd – leading 40-36.

The 4th saw Katie Spicer continue to rain threes, as she would end with 6 triples on the game. Fellow Senior Guard Elizabeth Hufnagel had 6 quick points in the 4th and Fowler would take control and their stifling defense was too much for the Irish to handle – as the Eagles win 57-36.

A 17-0 4th quarter for Fowler sent them to yet another Regional Title victory. Coach Nate Goerge and his staff coached a wonderful game and will be rewarded with a chance to go back to the Breslin in the quarterfinal on Tuesday.

A big shoutout to the 3 Seniors of Sacred Heart, Sophie Hauck, Kallie Smith and Chelsea Lynch – who all had spectacular basketball careers with the Irish!

Sophie Hauck and Karis Terwilliger each had 14 points to lead Sacred Heart.

An awesome season for Coach Andrew Doerr and his Irish, and we are honored to have gotten the chance to cover them!

This concludes our Local High School Basketball Coverage for the 2024-2025 season. A big thank you to all of the coaches, fans, parents, athletic directors, and of course players for being a part of a fun hoops season. We couldn’t have done it without you.
