The Detroit Tigers fought their way back into the playoff picture, sweeping the Minnesota Twins 9-2 and 4-2 Thursday in Minnesota. The Tigers bats erupted in the 9th inning, led by a Victor Martinez’s pinch-hit home run in game-one. Then in game-two, Justin Verlander struck out 11 Twins batters for the win. If the season ended today, the Tigers would hold the final wild card spot in the American League.
