The shorthanded Detroit Pistons edged the Atlanta Hawks 99-94 in Atlanta Thursday night for their first preseason victory. Andre Drummond, Marcus Morris and Reggie Jackson all sat out for the Pistons with injuries. Tobias Harris and Ish Smith each scored 18 points, leading Detroit to victory. Aron Baynes added 16 points for the Pistons.
