The Computer Shop Plus in Weidman received a flood of calls last Thursday from people telling them to stop calling. After some research, owner Stephen Chipp discovered that his number had been hacked by phone scammers. One person said the caller identified themselves as someone from Microsoft, and they detected an error on their computer and can check it out for them. Ultimately the scammer tried to gain access to people’s computers, and then said they can clean it out for $199 or $299.
