“The Proposal” Premieres On ABC

If a beauty pageant, “The Bachelor,” and the “Gong Show” had a baby, this would be it.

“The Proposal” premiered last night on ABC. If you didn’t catch it, it’s a “soul mate pageant.” 10 singles, who were women last night, compete to get a marriage proposal from a mystery suitor. Yep. They don’t even know who he is. He happens to be a police officer and lost part of his leg in a motorcycle accident a few years ago.

To give you an idea of the women waiting for a ring, Hannah Malone’s description was “When she isn’t writing or speaking, she’s tending to her massive collection of dolls.” And “Kendal Maxwell. Kendal is a 30-year-old baton twirler from Los Angeles. She’s been twirling batons her whole life — and sometimes the batons are on fire!” What they didn’t mention is she went to school for six years to be a neurophysicist!

The eliminations include letting the eligible man, whose name is Mike Rowe…but not that one!… getting to know the “real me” of each woman while she stands there in a bathing suit.

Another round of eliminations and then comes the dealbreaker questions and more ladies get the boot. Then comes Rowe’s best friend Andrew to scrutinize the women. Remember Kendal? She tells Andrew she isn’t going to have children. She gets the heave ho and that leaves the two women for Mike to choose from. Will it be Monica or Jessica? It was Monica. And yes there was a proposal.

It’s an entertaining show for sure. You can see “The Proposal” on Monday nights at 10 on ABC.
