Marion Superintendent Retires Amidst Allegations

MARION SCHOOL DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT AND ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PRINCIPAL MORT MEIER RETIRED WEDNESDAY AFTER FIVE YEARS . HE DID NOT STATE A REASON FOR HIS RETIREMENT BUT THE NEWS COMES AMIDST ALLEGATIONS THAT MEIER WAS DOUBLE DIPPING: ACCEPTING A REGULAR PAYCHECK AND PENSION AT THE SAME TIME. THE SCHOOL BOARD SAYS THE ISSUE HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO THEIR ATTENTION, BUT IT IS NOT THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO INVESTIGATE ANY FURTHER.
