A rash of graffiti vandalism in Mt. Pleasant over several weeks has police asking for the public’s help identifying the person or people responsible.
The graffiti —the majority painted in yellow while a few incidents are other colors— has been located across Mt. Pleasant, some reported to police by property owners and others located by police themselves as they work to gather evidence, said Mt. Pleasant Public Information Officer Jeff Browne.
In June, police investigated two reports of yellow spray-painted graffiti on a building and dumpster in the 400 and 500 blocks of North Mission.
Many similar graffiti vandalism paintings has been discovered in the time since from downtown Mt. Pleasant to Central Michigan University’s campus, though not all property owners are reporting the incidents.
Because the string of vandalism is thought be connected, a detective has been assigned to investigate, and the Mt. Pleasant Police Department is asking that graffiti be reported and that anyone with any information call 989-779-9111.
“Whether the damage is small or severe, we’d like to keep a record, and having all the information helps us,” Browne said.
