Clare County Commissioners approved several cuts on Thursday to trim nearly $800,000 from the budget. The cuts included discontinuing funding for the Michigan State University Extension, cuts to parks and recreation, removing a part time employee from the veterans affairs office, reducing Administrator Tracy Byard’s assistant to half-time, reduce the sheriff’s department budget by $100,000, and not to fill a vacant part-time position in the County Clerk’s office.
