A man accused of assault and being involved in a standoff has been found not guilty. Brian Houtman was cleared of any wrongdoing for his role in a Kalkaska County standoff, back in May. Deputies were called to a home this summer after getting reports about a man who had assaulted a woman and fired off several rounds. A standoff then started when e went to a pole barn. Mr. Houtman says he’s glad the justice system actually works.
