A t-shirt design created to ease tensions and fundraise has been nixed by the Shepherd Police Dept. After complaints of being in “poor taste” by community members, Chief Luke Sawyer decided to not sell t-shirts that displayed “Secret Police” on them. According to the Morning Sun, Sawyer grabbed onto the phrase the newspaper used in an editorial about a car wreck that killed a young man and the withholding of information by police. The paper said he was going to use it “to make light of the situation.” Sawyer says he meant no offense.
