Will Smith has signed on to play Richard Williams – the father of tennis stars Venus and Serena Williams– in “King Richard.” The film centers on Richard overcoming hardship, skepticism, controversy, and his own troubled past to teach his daughters the game of tennis on the courts of Compton, California. The script – written by Zach Baylin – was runner-up on the 2018 Black List.
