The auditions continued on “American Idol” last night. The bus rolled through Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; Louisville, Kentucky, and Los Angeles to find the best talent in the country. Here are the highlights.
- “Rise Up” was Shayy’s song choice – and it was certainly the right one. Lionel Richie couldn’t stop crying as the 17-year-old told her story about being declared legally blind last year. Her voice was really good, and she’s definitely going to Hollywood.
- Another tearjerking shoe-in was Ethan Payne. He suffers from cystic fibrosis and shared a stage with Luke Bryan as part of the Make-a-Wish when he was a kid. He even played the guitar that Luke gave him at that time. The fact that his voice was great was almost an afterthought in that situation.
- The standout of the evening was Alejandro Aranda. The self-taught 24-year-old from Pomona, California said he didn’t pick up the art until he was 20. You couldn’t tell when he sang and played guitar on his original song, “Out Loud.” His piano skills were equally impressive.
“American Idol” returns on Sunday.
