The award winning producer of animated hits “Rick and Morty” and “The Simpsons” is dead at 54.
J Mike Mendel worked on Fox’s “The Tracey Ullman” show when “The Simpsons” was a series of animated shorts on the program. When it spun off on its own, he ended up working on the show for its first decade and more recently worked on Adult Swim’s “Rick and Morty.”
Mendel was a four time Emmy winner and the death apparently rocked those at Adult Swim. They shared, “All of us at Adult Swim are devastated by the untimely passing of Mike Mendel. Mike was the heart of the ‘Rick and Morty’ production family, his fantastic talent and wit will be sorely missed.”
Mendel’s wife said he died of natural causes Sunday night at their home in California.
