When Oprah Winfrey shows up, you never know what will happen. For instance, she showed up at the 17th annual Maya Angelou Women Who Lead Luncheon on Saturday in Charlotte, North Carolina. The goal of the soiree was to raise a million dollars for the United Negro College Fund.
When the Queen of Media got up to speak, they’d managed to raise $1-point-15 million dollars. That’s when she told the audience that she was going to match the total. She got a standing ovation from the stunned audience.
The $2-point-3 million dollars raised will help local students of color attend historically Black colleges.
