Allee Willis, the songwriter responsible for the “Friends” theme as well as several Earth, Wind & Fire hits, died Tuesday in Los Angeles from cardiac arrest. She was 72.

In addition to writing “I’ll Be There For You,” the theme of the hit NBC show that was performed by The Rembrandts, Willis penned such classics as Earth, Wind and Fire’s “September” and “Boogie Wonderland,” the Pointer Sisters’ “Beverly Hills Cop” tune “Neutron Dance” and more. She won two GRAMMYS, and was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2018. Source: USA Today
