Fame really can go to your head. Fortunately for James Corden, his family and friends gave him a wakeup call.
Before Corden hosted “The Late Late Show,” he starred in “Gavin & Stacey” in Britain. Outside of work, he was behaving like a brat. It got so bad that his loved ones had to intervene. James’ mother started praying for him, while his sisters told him not to be a “d—khead. But it was his co-star Rob Brydon who broke it down for him. “Look, this is a bit awkward to say, but I’m just hearing these things about you, and you’ve got to know that the way you behave has an effect on people.”
James sought therapy to do better. At his first session, he said, “I used to be a better person than this.” He tried to figure out why he felt so empty. He began forcing himself to stay home at night and eat TV dinners. “The absolute biggest thing I had to learn to do,” he said, “was just stay in and be comfortable on my own.” That’s when he started spending more time with his wife Julia, and kids, Max, Carey, and Charlotte.
