Could Lori Loughlin possibly catch a break in the college admissions scandal? Apparently a federal judge in the case called allegations of law enforcement misconduct “serious and disturbing.” US District Judge Nathaniel Gorton ordered prosecutors to provide more information in the case.
According to the notes of Rick Singer took on his iPhone on October 2nd, 2018, the FBI had the mastermind of the scandal call his clients – like Lori, her husband, Mossimo Giannulli, and other parents – and record them. They told him to lie and get his clients to say they were making bribes to college officials – counter to what he claimed he actually told them before they paid him to get their children into college.
“The Court considers the allegations in Singer’s October notes to be serious and disturbing,” Gorton wrote. “While government agents are permitted to coach cooperating witnesses during the course of an investigation, they are not permitted to suborn the commission of a crime.” At this point, he didn’t decide whether to dismiss case at this point. Instead, he ordered prosecutors to respond to the allegations. The defendants have until May 1st to respond to the government.
