Rutger Hauer, Golden Globe-nominated actor best known for his role in 1982’s “Blade Runner,” has died at 75. Hauer’s agent has confirmed that he passed away on July 19th at his home in the Netherlands after an illness.

Hauer was born in the Netherlands, and went on to become a leading man of the 1970s. Besides “Blade Runner,” Hauer is known over here for his roles in “Sin City,” Christopher Nolan’s “Batman Begins,” “True Blood” and the 2004 miniseries adaptation of Stephen King’s “Salem’s Lot.” He was nominated for Golden Globes for his performances in 1984’s “Escape From Sobibor” and 1994’s “Fatherland.”

Hauer is survived by his wife of 50 years, Ineke ten Crate, and his daughter with ex-wife Heidi Merz, actress Aysha Hauer.
