There has now been a confirmed case of Eastern Equine Encephalitis in Montcalm County. The virus was found in a horse. It’s the first case in a horse in the county since 2005 but no human cases have ever been detected in the county. If you do plan to camp or spend time outdoors in that area, it is recommended to use DEET products to deter mosquitoes from biting.
