Now we know what killed John Witherspoon. According to the death certificate, the 77-year-old was suffering from coronary artery disease when he had a heart attack. While he also had hypertension, it’s not listed as a direct cause of death. However, it probably didn’t help. The legend passed away on October 29th at his home in Sherman Oaks, California.
