A decision in Johnny Depp’s libel case against “The Sun” has been made, and not in his favor. As the UK judge cites overwhelming evidence of violence towards his ex-wife Amber Heard, Depp is already planning his rebuttal.
In his 129-page judgement on Monday, Judge Andrew Nichol said “The Sun’s” report that Depp was violent towards Heard during their relationship was “substantially true.” And when it comes to the special delivery Depp accused Heard of leaving in his bed, the judge said it’s “unlikely” Heard “or one of her friends” was responsible for the stink.
Depp’s response to the ruling? His lawyers are calling it “so flawed that it would be ridiculous” for the actor “not to appeal this decision.” Meanwhile, “The Sun” has thanked Heard for her “courage” in presenting evidence of domestic abuse, saying “victims must never be silenced.”
