Calder Cornwell – Mt. Pleasant

Calder Cornwell is currently a senior it the GI-TEC Health Science Occupations program. Calder is simply one of the kindest, most honest, hard-working students around. Calder demonstrates exceptional character daily in our Health Science Occupations classroom community. He is often the first to raise a hand and volunteer, he demonstrates active listening and support to his classmates and is respectful of all in the classroom. His work ethic extends beyond the classroom to the marching band where he devotes dozens of hours a week to perfect his skills and talents. When I hear the phrase, “character counts” I immediately think of Calder.

Nominating Teacher – Jen Chanler-Conner – Health Science Occupations

Addy Arntz – Mt. Pleasant

It is my pleasure to nominate Addison Arntz as the Student of the Month for her outstanding work in Business Management.  Addy has been in Business Management for two years where her leadership and organizational skills have been invaluable in every project.

It is hard to identify her greatest strength–it could be her incredible work ethic, her boundless enthusiasm or her kind heart.  No matter what the project, Addy is the first to get involved.  She is very comfortable leading a project–but she also has the maturity to allow others to lead while she supports in any way necessary.

Addy is also a co-op student in the GI-TEC office.  She takes her responsibilities very seriously and is a great fit for the office.  Her supervisor, Barb has said of her, “Addy is a smart and ambitious girl.  She is always asking what she can do in the office to be helpful!”

She is on the Mt. Pleasant High School Student Senate and currently serves as the Vice President of External Communications.  She attends the MPPS School Board Meetings monthly where she reports about all of the events of the student body. She is also in charge of the You’re Awesome program for students which is so fitting for her awesome personality!

She has been involved in the Mt. Pleasant Cheer program for four years and she is the captain this year.  When she isn’t supporting the Oilers by cheering on the sidelines, she can often be found working the concession stand at any number of MP events. She is also very involved within her class participating in mock rock, showcases and floats over the past four years-culminating with her being nominated for the 2024-2025 Mt. Pleasant Homecoming Court.

Addy is truly a joy to work with and is very deserving of the 104.3 Student of the Month Award. She is someone who has made invaluable contributions to the Business Management program and our community and who has an amazing future ahead of her!

Now in his senior year, Silas is enrolled in the Automotive class, where his passion for cars continues to grow. Outside of school, Silas works at a local tire store, balancing his job with his studies. He is not only a dedicated student in the classroom but also a friendly and hardworking individual outside. In his free time, Silas enjoys riding his mountain bike around town, showcasing his love for outdoor activities alongside his passion for cars.

I am thrilled to recognize Mariana Moreno as my nomination for Student of the Month! As a second-year graphic design student, Mariana has consistently showcased her exceptional talent and creativity, making a significant impact in our program.
