Three men found in vehicles stopped along Isabella County roadways were arrested in recent days and a fourth one went to jail after being found wandering lost in the middle of a road, the county sheriff’s department said.
Just after 5 p.m. on Wednesday deputies stopped to help occupants of a car with its four-way flashers going in the 4000 block of East Baseline Road, Sheriff Michael Main said.
“Upon making contact with the occupants it was determined that there was a personal protection order out against the driver, a 28-year-old man from Harrison, by the passenger, a 26-year-old female from Harrison,” Main said.
The driver was taken to jail.
At 1:30 a.m. the next day, deputies came upon a 37-year-old Sherman Township man passed out behind the wheel in the 100 block of River Road, Main said.
While working to tow the vehicle for lack of insurance, deputies found evidence of drug use.
“Upon doing a vehicle inventory for the impound, drug components and paraphernalia were found,” the sheriff said. “The male admitting to smoking methamphetamine.”
About 12 hours later another car beside the road, this one on East Ward Road, was investigated.
“When the vehicle was approached a smell of burned marijuana emanated from the vehicle,” Main said. “A 30-year-old male from Riverdale was arrested.”
And a few minutes after midnight on Saturday, deputies were called for an intoxicated man standing in the middle of the 3000 block of Isabella Road.
“He was unable to find his friend’s house so deputies offered to take him there since a cab was 20 minutes out and it was raining,” Main said.
Preparing for the ride, deputies patted the 23-year-old White Lake man down and found a baggy with a white rock substance inside.
It tested positive in a field test as methamphetamine and the man was arrested.
