The Beal City Aggies softball team easily defeated the Sacred Heart Irish softball team 9-0 Saturday morning in district semifinals action at the Sacred Heart softball complex. Aggie pitcher Elizabeth Powell pitched a gem, earning a complete game shutout with seven strikeouts on only five hits. Powell got plenty of run support from her team, led by Paige Lorenz, who went 4-for-4 on the day, and Lilly Steffke’s 3 RBI. Sacred Heart won both regular season meetings between the two teams. The Aggies take on the winner of the Vestaurg and Evart district semifinal, in a game scheduled for 2pm at Sacred Heart.
Elsewhere, Vestaburg disposed of Evart 9 to 3 in the early district semifinal game at the Sacred Heart baseball complex. The winner of that game takes on the winner of the Beal City vs. Sacred Heart district semifinal in another 2pm game.
