The Central Michigan Chippewas clinched the regular season Mid-American Conference title, defeating Eastern Michigan 5-4 on Sunday in Ypsilanti. Taylor Lewallen and Morgan Gardner had two RBI each for the Chippewas in the win.
On the baseball diamond, CMU defeated Northern Illinois 3-1 on Sunday to take the weekend series at Theunissen Stadium. Freshman lefty Tyler Hankins pitched 8 2/3 innings allowing only a single run in the win. CMU improves to 13-5 in MAC play, leading the MAC West by 2 1/2 games.
