In case you missed it, Kirstie Alley is attempting to answer the question that most of us have been asking all week: what causes mass shootings in this country. In a series of tweets, the avowed Scientologist blames the “mass usage of psychiatric drugs.” As you may know Scientologists are against prescription meds. Of course, there is no proof or even a suggestion that the accused Las Vegas shooter has ever been on psych meds.
But the way the “Cheers” star sees it, there’s a reason we didn’t have these types of incidents before the 1980s. “I know one common denominator other than guns,” she tweeted. “One additional common denominator…is [the] USA’s mass usage of psychiatric drugs. A [percentage] do have side effects of VIOLENCE & SUICIDE.”
The Twitterverse didn’t exactly appreciate her opinion – and told her so. After getting slammed for being insensitive, Kirstie came back with, “UTMOST sympathy [for] the victims [and] their loved ones. The convo is NOT had [and] solutions [are] not found. Prayers [and] condolences aren’t enough anymore.”
