A Michigan rape victim is speaking out after a judge granted her attacker joint legal custody of their 8-year-old son.
The decision comes nearly 10 years after then 12-year-old Tiffany was attacked.
In 2008 Christopher Mirasolo kidnapped and raped Tiffany and one of her friends in an abandoned house near Detroit.
Mirasolo was given a plea deal for attempted third-degree criminal sexual conduct and served six and a half months in county jail.
But despite his criminal history, a paternity order was signed last month giving Mirasolo joint custody of Tiffany’s son.
Attorneys for Tiffany and Mirasolo are now working privately to reach a settlement.
A spokesman for the Michigan Supreme Court says the judge wasn’t aware of Mirasolo’s criminal background when he granted him joint legal custody.
