Farmers in Michigan may not have to wait until 2020 to plant their first crop of industrial hemp. It won’t be until 2020 until a state government can have a state plan for raising industrial hemp in their state, however officials say there’s a provision in the previous U.S. Farm Bill, passed in 2014, that allows research universities or state governments to authorize industrial hemp programs. The clock is ticking for Michigan officials to come up with a plan though as planting season approaches.
