- Chelsea Handler gets deep in her first memoir, “Life Will Be The Death Of Me”
- She’s opened up about the death of her brother
- She says she’s ready to grow as a person and television star
Chelsea Handler’s first memoir gets pretty deep. In “Life Will Be The Death Of Me… And You Too!,” the comedian opens up about dealing with the death of her brother Chet. Speaking to USA Today, Handlers explains that started going to therapy after the 2016 Presidential election, and began to have “epiphanies” about how her brother’s passing has affected her.
Chet Handler, the oldest of Chelsea’s five siblings, died after falling on a hiking trip in 1984. Not only did Handler’s family fall apart after the tragedy, but Handler also says that because Chet had “promised” her he would come back from the trip she’s had trust issues to this day. When it come to her successful television career, Handler says she realized by going to therapy that she had never really dealt with Chet’s death because she thought she had “everything I could possibly need.”
Now, she’s ready to grow. “For so long I had a TV Show and that was my whole identity. I had to really think about what does that mean, why am I so addicted to this fame and this success?” she explains. “I just had an awakening. I want to put out stuff that makes us think, and I want to think.”
