Michelle Obama is taking heat for a comment she made comparing divorced dads to Donald Trump.
The former First Lady – who was in London promoting her book, “Becoming” – was trying to describe America’s fascination with the current president. She equated America to a teenager who spends the weekend with his or her divorced father. Everything is fun until the kid gets sick on dad’s watch.
Divorced fathers did NOT appreciate the comparison – nor that they were less competent than divorced mothers. Someone tweeted, “I admire [Michelle Obama], but I really wish she wouldn’t use divorced dads as a metaphor for Trump. I hear some of them are quite awesome.” Someone else said, “As a divorced dad, I do my best to raise my son into a kind of man of which we all can be proud. Your comment doesn’t help people see that I’m conscientious and competent to do a good job.”
- So far, Mrs. Barack Obama hasn’t commented on the situation.
