Mumford & Sons are set to receive a special honor this fall. They’ll be bestowed this year’s John Steinbeck Award.
Established in 1996, the award is given each year to a writer, artist or activist who embodies the “empathetic spirit and values” of the author of “The Grapes Of Wrath,” “East Of Eden,” and “Of Mice And Men.” Mumford & Sons have been chosen this year because of their “Gentleman of the Road” tour, which supports global and local social justice charities.
The band will receive the honor on September 18th at Stanford University’s Bing Concert Hall. The ceremony will feature a conversation with the band along with an acoustic performance.
