Kylie Jenner is catching some major backlash online for supposedly captioning a photo of herself “brown skinned girl.” If you believed screenshots floating around on Twitter, she posted the pic of herself on Instagram with the controversial caption before editing the text to say “brown eyed girl” instead.
Not surprisingly, the Internet let her have it. One critic wrote “please show me where and how you are a ‘brown skinned girl’? The audacity is repulsive” while others accused her of “using black people and stealing black culture.” Yes, the Kardashians are Armenian, but yeah…people weren’t feeling it.
But Jenner is calling it all fake news. She’s taken to her Instagram stories to say that she “saw online someone Photoshopped this photo I posted to change my caption ‘brown eyed girl’ to ‘brown skinned girl.’ I never said this.” Instead, she says the original caption was just a heart and star emoji which she DID change to “brown eyed girl” a few minutes later.
