Jason Momoa joined Native Hawaiian protesters on Wednesday as they blocked the construction of a billion-dollar telescope on Hawaii’s tallest mountain, Mount Kea. The protest has been going on for 17 days in an effort to stop the construction on land that’s considered sacred.

Speaking at the protest, Momoa got cheers from the crowd as he said, “We are not going anywhere. “I’m so very honored to be here, to bring my children and all my ohana here,” the actor added. “That telescope’s not being built here.”

That same day, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has also spoken in support of the demonstrators – most recently on “The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon” after visiting the mountain last week. “This mountain is their church, it would be like building on this church,” he explained. “This is so much bigger than a telescope being built.”
