A local farmer has received a $2,500 grant from the America’s Farmers Grow Communities program  and donated it to the Shepherd Public Schools food service department. Blaine Schafer applied for the grant, sponsored by the Bayer Fund, last August and was recently notified he was one of the recipients. The money will be used to purchase new kitchen equipment for the school.
