The Central Michigan Chippewas couldn’t clinch the MAC West regular season title on Thursday, falling 5-4 to Ball State in the opener of a three-game series at Theunissen Stadium. The Chippewas need one win in the series to clinch the title. Pat Leatherman threw six strong innings, surrendering two runs on three hits while striking out nine. The Chippewas and Cardinals face off again at 2:05PM on Friday.
