• Celebs really are just like the rest of us
  • Redditors have revealed the times they kept it cool around a celebrity
  • We have the list

Ever wish you could meet your favorite celebrities – and do you think you’d freak out or keep it cool? Well, we have a list of people who have run into celebs, and it turns out they really are just like the rest of us. User Kimantha_Allerdings recently asked Reddit to spill their “I met a celebrity but didn’t let on that I knew who they were” stories… and they’re great. Here are some of the coolest celebrity encounters:

  • Robin Williams: User Solid_Snark recalls seeing the late actor in his hometown near San Francisco. He or she noticed that Williams was trying not to draw attention to himself, so they had a simple, sweet exchange. They locked eyes, Williams smiled, the user smiled back and nodded, and that was it.
  • Chris Rock: User quarkspbt was a cab driver in the 1990s, and got the chance to give the comedian a ride before he hit the big time. Even though the user had seen him on Comedy Central and knew who he was, he or she played it cool and focused on the road. The user says that Rock cracked some jokes along the way in his “unmistakable” voice, like, “this ain’t no cab, smells too good to be a cab” and imitating a drunk guy they rode past asking for a taxi ride.
  • Stephen King: User EatATaco caught the famed writer in the horror section of a bookstore in Rhode Island. The user looked up from a Stephen King book that had his picture on the back to see none other than the man himself. “So I held up the book and asked, ‘Is this you?’” the user recalls. “He said, ‘Yeah.’ Then I said, ‘Good books,’ then he said, ‘thanks.’ And that was that.”
  • Steven Spielberg: User AdamHR remembers witnessing the legendary director’s proud dad moment. Spielberg was helping his daughter move into her dorm for the first time, and was “wearing the biggest Dad grin” as he recorded the whole thing with his camera. He even turned the camera on the user, so basically… “I have a supporting (the luggage) AND speaking role in a limited release (home movie) film shot by Steven Spielberg.”
  • Jeff Goldblum: User PoisonMonkey caught the eccentric actor’s attention with his or her gold ring… from “20 feet away.” The actor called the user over from inside a Range Rover, asked to see the ring, and “gushed about the ring for a minute.” “He thanked me, I said, ‘sure,’ and walked back to my apartment,” the user writes. “I like to think we’re friends now.”
  • Jared Leto: User nryan777 played it super cool with the rockstar-slash-Oscar winner during a shift at an outdoor goods store in Boulder, Colorado. Leto was in the market for some climbing gear, but was immediately bombarded by excited fans. The user says the actor was on edge, understandably, but chilled out once the user started treating him like he was “any other customer.” “I ended up walking around the store with him for like 25-30 minutes helping him shop,” the user adds. “The only time I implied I knew who he was towards the end… he leaned in and thanked me for my discretion and that was it.”
  • Leonardo DiCaprio: User Z0MBGiEF was a 19-year-old server in Los Angeles when the A-list actor came for a meal with his mother. The user notes this was “post-’Titanic,’” so he was big already. But the user kept it cool and didn’t let anyone know he or she knew who Leo was, besides writing, “your movies are awesome and I hope you liked our food” on the receipt. “[When I] picked up his payment he had left me a note back that said, ‘Thank you so much for not blowing my cover,’ with a $100 tip,” the user recalls.
