Gratiot County is one of 43 Michigan counties declared a primary disaster area by the USDA. Isabella County was included on a list of contiguous counties, along with Montcalm and Midland counties. A decision on Clare County is currently on hold. The designations make farmers in those counties eligible for low-interest loans and in some cases loan forgiveness.
